Envision a world where life has no bounds, "where the streets have no names." Imagine a future unconnected to money, where every child born isn't just encouraged to never stop dreaming but is further empowered to live their dreams and taught to take responsibility for her own life. Give the notion of a global community in place of ever-warring nations some entertainment. Accept that there's plenty of everything on this ravaged planet for all its human inhabitants. Suppose that every thing on earth were a tool, and that nearly all discontent is a product of man trying to use other men as tools.
Liberty, health, wealth, information, the pursuit of happiness, and peace for all--enter "anarchy."
Or, conversely, envision a world where life's purpose is to serve the few who've had the majority of its resources since memory began. Imagine a future where the air is so polluted that purified oxygen is a luxury, food is produced by robots, genocide is systematic as a means of population control, misery is the rule and happiness is largely unlawful. Children are lied to and most of them deemed unworthy of education on the day of their birth, by virtue of it alone. Give the notion of as few as eight monstrous national monoliths some entertainment, all of them bent on an apocalyptic end taught as necessary in their religious texts. Suppose slavery is re-introduced and religious men take control of existing governments. Worst yet, suppose they already have.
Envision tyranny, ignorance, domination, systematic rape, corruption at all levels of power--enter fascism, a system of government where the major powers of wealth, government, and intelligence work together and serve mutual interests.
For the latter, you must simply wait, because fascism is a slow cancer and its advocates already have power where it matters.
For freedom--a sustainable and happy future--the former, you must be willing to lay it all on the line and overthrow the powers that be.
There is still time to cancel their apocalypse.
